The Teether Review - Toofeze or Sophie the Giraffe?
Welcome to the joys of teething. NOT! Teething isn't any fun for babies, and usually not for parents, either. But luckily in this day and age there are plenty of options to help you through.
Sophie the Giraffe has long reigned as the ultimate baby teether. But just recently we've come across the Toofeze. We thought we'd put them side by side and compare the two to see just which is really the ultimate teether.
Sophie the Giraffe has a loyal following and is a favorite among celebrities. We love the fact that she is lovingly made in France. It's rare to find things not made in China these days. Sophie is made from 100% natural rubber derived from the sap of the Hevea Tree (BPA and phthalates free) and non-toxic food paint is used to give her her dots. To keep Sophie clean, simply wipe with a damp cloth. It's not recommended to submerge Sophie in water as it may damage the squeaker which might not be a bad thing haha. The squeaker feature is probably one that I'd prefer Sophie did without. I do love the fact that Sophie appeals to each of the 5 senses. Hear - the squeaker stimulates baby's hearing. Smell - the singular scent of natural rubber makes Sophie very special and easy for your child to identify amid all their other toys. Taste - she is completely safe to chew. Sight - At the age of 3 months, a baby's eyesight is still limited and they can only make out high contrasts. The dark and contrasting attention-catching spots all over Sophie the Giraffe's body provide visual stimulation. Touch - Touch is the first means a baby has to communicate with the outside world. Sophie has a super soft feel.
Enter the new kid on the block, the Toofeze. Made from lightweight, food-grade quality ingredients, the Toofeze incorporates a stainless steel disk that provides satisfying relief to aching gums. The handle of the Toofeze is made from silicone which is easy to hold and flexible. While some teethers and toys can be cumbersome and difficult for babies to control, the Toofeze is easy for your child to grab. There is definitely a reason behind the 50 year success of Sophie the Giraffe and that is, it's awesome! But having said that we think the Toofeze is even better.
