Bugaboo Fox 5 vs UPPAbaby VISTA V2

When it comes to choosing a pram for your child, it's important to consider a range of factors such as ease of use, comfort, safety, durability, and style. Two of the most popular options on the market today are the Bugaboo Fox 5 and the UPPAbaby VISTA V2. In this article, we'll take a closer look at these two prams, comparing their features and benefits to help you make an informed decision.

Bugaboo Fox 5 Pram

The Bugaboo Fox 5 is a premium quality pram designed to provide comfort, safety, and style for both parents and children. This pram is known for its excellent maneuverability, which is due in part to its lightweight design and large wheels. The innovative central joint has integrated 8 rubber suspension elements, providing rear wheel suspension. The infront wheel spring suspension offers even more protection against bumps and the smoothest handling. The wheels are made for lots of strolling! Durability is tested by driving up to 7,000 km on rough surface without significant wear and tear. That's almost as much as strolling from New York to LA and back!

One of the most unique features of the Fox 5 is the 2 wheel mode. You can quickly convert your buggy to 2 wheel mode. It’s designed for when you’re at the beach or in the snow. If you’ve ever tried using your pram at the beach you’ll know why a 2 wheel mode is useful. You just can’t get anywhere with 4 wheels. It’s a super cool feature but for me I’m not too sure how often I’d be taking my beautiful pram to the beach :)

Exclusive to Bugaboo strollers - is a self standing seat. Like all prams the bassinet will self stand (which is really handy when visiting friends and you can bring the bassinet inside creating a cosy space for your baby without the horror from your friends of wheeling your pram inside their home haha) The seat will also self stand. The design philosophy behind this is that you’re able to contain bubs in their seat by harnessing them in and having them seated at your height on the ground. Perfect for picnics. Keeping bubs included in the family and not separated pushed to the side in their pram. It’s definitely a sweet idea. But again, not too sure how often it would actually be used.

Another great feature of the Bugaboo Fox 5 is its reversible and reclining seat. This allows you to adjust the position of the seat to provide optimal comfort for your child. The seat can also be easily detached and replaced with a car seat, making it a versatile option for parents who need to transport their child in a car.

Convenient storage and transportation. Folding the Fox 5 can be done in two ways: as a one-piece fold (with either the seat or the carrycot) for convenient storage in your hallway, or as a two-piece fold for easy transportation in the back of your car. The Fox 5 has been updated to include a one handed fold. It couldn’t be any easier :)

After general wear-and-tear, you can replace modular parts as needed, to extend the Bugaboo Fox 5’s lifetime and reduce its ecological footprint. I must admit Bugaboo is the best brand for having parts available long after you purchased your pram.

Specifications:

  • Suitable from birth up to 22kg
  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
  • Modular design allows for customization
  • Reversible and reclining seat
  • Large wheels for easy navigation
  • Detachable seat for use with car seat

UPPAbaby VISTA V2 Pram

The UPPAbaby VISTA V2 is another high-quality pram that has become popular with parents around the world. Like the Bugaboo Fox 5, it offers a range of features designed to provide comfort, safety, and style for both parents and children.

One of the standout features of the UPPAbaby VISTA V2 is its expandable design. It allows you to convert your single pram into a double pram, making it a great option for parents who are planning to have another child in the near future. This is achieved by adding a second seat or a bassinet, which can be easily attached to the existing frame. It’s also one of the best double strollers out. Why? Because you have so many configurations with the seats allowing you to have both children facing you or facing the world or back to back. The options are endless.

Another great feature of the UPPAbaby VISTA V2 is its large storage basket. This provides plenty of space for you to carry all of your essentials, making it a great option for parents who walk to their local grocery store. The basket is easily accessible from both the front and back, making it easy to grab whatever you need on the go.

The included bassinet with the VISTA V2 is my absolute favourite of any pram. I love the mesh on the canopy, the extendable visor (to make a cosy space for your baby whilst their asleep and also keep those stickybeaks out), that it’s approved for overnight sleeping (perfect for that weekend away), and the one handed operation to put it on off the pram. It’s just so easy to use! Whilst this is amazing just remember you’ll only have the bassinet for absolute maximum of 6 months.

Specifications:

  • Suitable from birth up to 22.7kg
  • Expandable design for use with a second seat or bassinet
  • Large storage basket
  • Reversible and reclining seat
  • Easy to maneuver
  • Detachable seat for use with car seat

Comparison

When it comes to choosing between the Bugaboo Fox 5 and the UPPAbaby VISTA V2, there are a few key differences to consider. The Bugaboo Fox 5 is known for its modular design, which allows you to customise your pram according to your specific needs. It's also lightweight and easy to maneuver, making it a great option for urban parents.

On the other hand, the UPPAbaby VISTA V2 offers an expandable design, which allows you to convert your single pram into a double pram. It also features a large storage basket, which is great for parents who need to carry a lot of items with them on the go.

The VISTA V2 bassinet is approved for overnight sleeping. You’ll also be able use the bassinet for the Fox 5 for overnight sleeping but you’ll need to purchase the Bugaboo Stand and adaptors which are an additional.

They both come included with a rain cover. Win! The VISTA V2 also comes with a mesh cover for both the bassinet and the seat which the Fox5 does not. Whilst it’s not UPF rated it’s great to prevent bugs from flying on in to the pram.

Price-wise, they are both definitely not the cheapest option of pram. The VISTA V2 does come in a little cheaper at $1749 than the Fox 5 at $1999 for the basic package, which includes the chassis, bassinet, seat, and rain cover.

  • The Fox 5 can be folded in one piece with the seat facing either direction. VISTA V2 can only be folded with the seat on if it is facing the world.
  • The VISTA V2 bassinet is approved for overnight sleeping the Fox 5 is not.
  • The Fox 5 offers a 2 wheel mode whereas the VISTA V2 does not.
  • The VISTA V2 basket can take up to 13kg whereas the Fox 5 is up to 10kg.
  • The Fox 5 seat can stand on its own on the ground whereas the VISTA V2 can not.
  • You can purchase a second seat for you VISTA V2 to convert it to a double pram which you can not do on the Fox 5.
  • The Fox 5 can be folded with one hand whereas the VISTA V2 requires 2 hands.
  • The VISTA V2 comes included with a mosquito net for both the bassinet and the seat whereas the Fox 5 does not.
  • The Fox 5 fabrics can be machine washed the VISTA V2 fabrics are to be hand washed.
  • The VISTA V2 bassinet can be attached and removed with one hand. To remove the bassinet from the Fox 5 you need two hands.
  • The handlebar and bumper bar are leather on the VISTA V2. It’s a leatherette on the Fox 5. You’ll need to choose which one is the pro there :)

Size-wise, the Bugaboo Fox 5 is slightly narrower in width than the UPPAbaby VISTA V2. If you are going in and out of lots of doors, such as shops, for example, this can make a big difference.

Both of the strollers are still quite bulky even when folded, meaning it might be tricky to fit in your boot if you have a very small car, however, they’re both all terrain prams, so there’s not really going to be a smaller option if you want all terrain.

The final verdict - for me, it comes down to whether you want the option of converting your pram to a double. If so, go the VISTA V2. If that’s not a priority for you, go the Fox 5.

Ultimately, I don’t think you can really go wrong with either of these two prams. They’re the best of the best!
